XMA

This section is put together to help you get the most out of XMA. Remember, there is no miracle cure for eczema or psoriasis. It is a case of putting together a management plan that is write for you and with patience and persistence you can manage your eczema or psoriasis.

The first thing you need to do with your XMA is patch test....

Why Patch Test

I always advise people to patch test our products before they use them on the affected area, and people often ask me why. Does it mean I expect them to react to our products?

This is not the case at all. In fact the opposite is true. The products that we sell are all natural, hypoallergenic products. However we are selling predominantly to people who are known to have allergies and sensitive skin.

Patch testing is a precaution

Patch testing is a mere precaustion. It is far better to find out on a small patch of skin that you are sensitive to a new product than to learn on a large area that is already irritated.

I therefore recommend that any product that you are applying to your skin for the first time be patch tested on an unaffected area for about 24 hours.

How To Patch Test

Apply a small amount of cream/ointment/oil to a small unaffected area of skin usually about 1 inch square. The inner forearm just below the elbow is an ideal area as it can be easily accessed and observed. The back of the shoulder is ideal for youngsters as they are unable to touch the area. Never use the face to patch test on as the skin on the face is more sensitive.

If testing more than one product ensure they are a reasonable distance apart so if you react you will be able to distinguish which product it is you have reacted to.

It is advisable to patch test for 24 hours. However if you are sensitive to a product it will usually become apparent in a short period of time. Signs of a reaction include redness, itchiness, small blisters or welts. If you experience any of these symptoms you should wash the product from your skin and not use it.

A True Allergic Reaction

A true allergic reaction will not appear on the first use so it is advisable to continue to check the skin whern first using a new product. It is also a good idea to apply the cream to the same area several times in the initial 24 hour patch testing period.

Applying XMA

Once you have patch tested and are comfortable that there seems to be no reaction from anything in XMA you can start applying to the affected area.

We recommend 3 times per day to start with, but it is a case of trial and error. Keep the skin moist is the goal here, don't let it have a chance to dry out.

When you apply XMA we find it is best to start off to the side of the affected area and work in a sweeping motion rather than simply rubbing the cream in. Rubbing can inflame the area more and we find that the Vitamin A in XMA is naturally a little abrasive, so if you rub too hard it can inflame the area. This is especially important on cracked skin.
